About Us

Since our inception in 1996, B. Diaferia, CPA P.C. has experienced exponential growth using only referrals. Historically, our firm has had three areas of concentration, entity accounting and taxation, businesses management and financial consulting, and high net worth individual taxation.

As the industry and economy have changed over the years, the firm has become well versed in the area of international taxation. B. Diaferia, CPA P.C. is now retained by clients across the continental United States and in more than 10 foreign countries.

Staff Bios

Benedette Diaferia, CPA
Benedette is a 1986 graduate of Pace University. She interned at National Futures Association™ during her senior year and stayed with the company for more than two years following graduation. During this time, she became an audit specialist in security and commodity industry accounting. Benedette then went to work at Tardino & Stewart, CPAs, where she was extensively involved in small business accounting.

After one year at Tardino & Stewart, she accepted a position with Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt, & Mosle, a top-100 law firm. During her seven years there as the firms accounting and tax specialist, she was responsible for the preparation, planning, & compliance for their major clients.

Real estate partnerships and high net-worth individuals are just two of the many areas that she focused on. She left Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt, & Mosle in 1996 to become a founding partner of what is now B. Diaferia, CPA P.C. Currently, she spends a great deal of her time working with business owners as their off-site CFOs, as well as working with a majority of the firm’s foreign clientele.

Matthew Martell, CPA
Matthew Martell earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy from Baruch College and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Taxation from Baruch’s Zicklin School of Business. He is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in the state of New York since 2012.

Matthew joined the firm in 2007 performing tax and attest services for clients in various industries. He currently specializes in high net worth individual taxation, as well as the taxation and accounting of personal services corporations.
